Grey Gum – is a eucalyptus tree found at Hawkesbury River area in NSW and up into the Maryborough region of QLD and it grows up to 40m tall. It is highly durable Australian hardwood with Janka hardness rating of 14. It is mainly used in heavy construction, engineering and flooring industry. Heartwood is red to reddish-brown colour, and much paler from it’s sapwood. Grey Gum has interlocking grain with coarse, but even texture. It is a termite resistant timber and heartwood class 1 durability above the ground.
