Grey Box – is a eucalyptus tree found at Central and Northern NSW territories. It is highly durable Australian hardwood with Janka hardness rating of 15. It is used in heavy construction and flooring industry. Heartwood is pale, yellowish brown, while sapwood is a little paler in appearance. Only a few gum veins is found in Grey Box timber, while grain is interlocking with fine and even texture. It is a termite resistant and heartwood class 1 durability above the ground.
